Over recent decades industry has been forced to respond to environmental and social needs, publish corporate social reports and work with professional bodies and NGOs. This programme examines ethics in supply-chain practice, the effective methods of communicating ethics and maps outcomes and consequences of unethical and ethical practice.
Students will analyse the motivations and roles of consumers in ethics discourse and identify best practice models across traditional fashion and textile industries.

Graduates of this programme will challenge industry to think and work in innovative and ethical ways. The course is taught by research-active faculty looking at the key concerns of our changing global industries and offers opportunity to study with an international peer group. The School of Textiles & Design has a strong global industry and NGO links in design, corporate social responsibility reporting and corporate affairs and social enterprise. In addition teaching staff are members of the Fellowship of 500, in the Ethical Fashion Forum. There are both courses and research opportunities to work with local and international industry.
Careers in this field are becoming increasingly popular, with large manufacturers and retailers catching on that their consumer base are questioning the ethics behind their clothing.
